1. The community is approximately one mile from I-75, for quick travel to Tampa or Naples.
2. We have a convenience store and barbershop/hair salon in the neighborhood, with food stores, gas, banking, restaurants, and hardware stores 5 miles away. Holiday Inn and Hampton Inn are approximately 3 miles away.
3. Charlotte County Airport can accommodate business jets. For airline travel, Southwest Florida International Airport in Fort Myers is roughly 45 minutes away and Tampa International Airport is under 2 hours away.
4. Harbour Heights is along the Peace River, with several navigable canals offering quick access from home dock to the river and the Gulf of Mexico.
5. The community park has a boat ramp, docks, tennis courts, shuffleboard, volleyball, playground equipment, and picnic pavilions.
6. Harbour Heights has an active Civic Association, garden club, and women’s club. Several activities, such as card games and basket-making and painting classes, are offered through the Civic Association.
7. Deep Creek Elementary School is less than a mile away while Punta Gorda Middle and Charlotte High Schools are a short bus ride away. In the Florida Department of Education 2000–2001 School Accountability Report, these schools were graded B, A, and C, respectively, for the 2001 year. Edison Community College is just across the river in Punta Gorda. Manatee Community College is in Venice.
8. Harbour Heights is a bird sanctuary. There are nine endangered or rare birds or animals in the area.
9. Manatees and dolphins are seen in the residential canals.
10. The Peace River flows into Charlotte Harbor (roughly 5 miles away) and that leads to the Gulf of Mexico, about 20 miles from Harbour Heights by boat.
11. Both fresh and saltwater fishing can be done in Harbour Heights.
12. Harbour Heights is served by the Charlotte Harbor Water Association. It provides some of the best water in the area as well as being less expensive than other water utilities in the county.
San Marino Drive and Voyageur Drive in Harbour Heights are on the San Marino Canal. This canal is roughly 85' wide. It has a soft mud bottom. In 1997, the center 40' wide channel was dredged to 5'2" below mean lower low water (MLLW). It has since shoaled to approximately 4'6" at MLLW. The height of the I-75 and US41 bridges is approximately 44'6" (all four bridges: I-75 and US41 north and southbound).
