The only incorporated city in Charlotte county, Punta Gorda consists of several parts, the historic district and the newer subdivisions of View of the Peace River from the shores Gilcrest park in Punta Gorda Punta Gorda Isles (PGI), Burnt Store Isles (BSI), Seminole Lakes, Burnt Store Meadows. The Isles are located on a system of deep saltwater canals that provide the homeowners with quick access to Charlotte Harbor. 

PGI is a deed-restricted community with city water and sewers. All the canal lots have concrete seawalls. The real estate market in this area has slowed. The investor fervor has gone. Many property owner have placed their home on the market in order to realize the appreciation seen during 2005. Some have reduced their asking price in order to sell others are holding firm
